Points and Dots; Period

Do we need three names for one punctuation device?

An FM radio frequency might be said as “one oh nine point seven” (109.7). The value of Pi is “three point one four one five nine” (3.14159). Interest is “four point three five” (4.35%). Tech folks speak of the new web “two point oh” (2.0).

Web sites are: “whitehouse dot gov”; nationalgeographic dot com”; “socrates dot edu” [ok, I made that one up]; “gatesfoundation dot org”.

The symbol at the end of this sentence is a “period”.
