If you have never traveled on a train, do it as soon as you can. Unfortunately, trains don’t go everywhere (but neither do planes.)

There is a kind of music in the noises of trains, as alluring to me as the noise of jets is repelling. I like my trains noisy.

I don’t disparage the adventure of high-flying among the clouds, nor the wonder of seeing the Earth as the eagle may see it. But there should be space for trains as well as for buses and planes.

The relaxation of having your own private space on a train--your own shower and commode--is not equalled elsewhere on transportation reasonably available to nearly all of us.

And if you get to hear a train whistle, listen up. If you are not moved and enthralled, you are either under-developed or over-jaded.
