Where but in Utah would you see a hummingbird feeder with poison in it? Where but in Utah would anyone spread poison (or fatal matter) on honeysuckle blossoms?

I am sure any garden supply in the nation has 90% poisons, 10% fertilizers. But to intentionally kill a hummingbird? Poison in a hummingbird feeder?

The malice required to perform such an act must have been nurtured from early childhood. And, horror, it will probably continue to grow until the death of the host.

Sometimes it is possible to enlighten some miserable wretch-- sourpuss, grumpy, grouchy and downright mean human. There was a time, when I was younger, more optimistic, less sophisticated, that I thought almost any grump could be cheered up.

Now, I am older--much older--and I harbor no such illusions. Not today. Maybe I’ll feel better tomorrow.

I will put out the hummingbird feeders for Cinco de Mayo.
